McRae tribute car tours Scotland for charity

The Twoball rally is a budget version of the gumball. The challenge is to buy a car for £567 or less, dress it up or modify it in any way you see fit. Choose a route from their website and take part in what can only be described as 5 days of top gear style challenges and hope the car makes it to the end. This year with the pandemic the organizers decided to stick to Britain and set a route around the coastline of Scotland, the NC700 was born.

My story started by being asked back in 2015 to Co drive for a pal who wanted to give something back to the cancer hospital Christie's. They had saved his life on more than one occasion. As fund raising is encouraged by the rally organizers I figured my choice would be Muscular Dystrophy since the illness had taken my brother at the age of 15.

So this is the 4th rally I will have done and the second rally for my trusty Ford focus st170 that's been dressed up to look like Colin McRae's 2001 Monte Carlo car. Having made it previously to Barcelona and back in 5 days via Italy I have every confidence in her. However me surviving some of the challenges that lay ahead is I different matter for this 51 year old petrol head.
