We asked Kelvin a few questions about himself and his motor!
Who are you?
Well, i'm a 40 year old petrol head, who's always had an addiction to cars from a very young age. I guess i'm one of those that was never into smoking, drinking or drugs. All my money went on my cars, although that has had to calm down since i'm now a proud father to my 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son, who like their father are developing a healthy obsession with cars.
Where are you from?
We are from the outskirts of Bath/Bristol, a little place called Midsomer Norton, although i was born in Bristol.
What was your first car and what cars have you previously owned?
My first car was way back in 1997 and was a 1995 N Reg Ford Fiesta Si 1.6 16V. After that i stayed with a few ford models including;
- Fiesta XR2
- Ford Orion Ghia
- and a few mondeo's
BUT
my first real ford came in the form of a Mercury Grey S2 Escort RS Turbo, which back in the day had one of the first zetec conversions done to it. If only i knew then what i know now, I would've kept it locked up in a garage. I soon moved on to other models but was mainly Subaru Impreza's to which i've owned and built up some special motors.
I then discovered the delights of the Ford Focus ST5 pot and had a lovely performance blue pre-facelift running just over 340 BHP and fell in love with Fords all over again but circumstances changed so i sold it, since then i've had a few other nice cars, the last was an Audi S5 and although that was an amazing car, i was still craving something else.
What is your current car?
My current car is a frozen white facelift Focus ST but this one is packing some serious punch with 460 BHP.
Is your car standard or modified?
My car has some awesome modifications which include;
- Fully forged engine
- Hybrid RS Turbo
-750cc Injectors
-Stage 4 intercooler with hard pipes
- Water Methanol Injection
- 3" Turbo back RS KMS
- Thunderstorm exhaust with 6" RS slash cut tips
-Bilstein Coilovers
- K sport 8 pot callipers
- Quaife limited slip diff
- 19" genuine RS alloys running the new good year eagle F1 super sports (which I can confirm are phenomenal tyres and the grip is immense and certainly helps)
-Custom Re-map
All in all i have invoices to back me up, i have spent 25-30K on her.
She was once a show winning car in her previous owners ownership but cosmetically she looked very different than she does now. My goal is to turn her into a RS replica, as she has everything there, bar the bumpers and the bigger wings.
What is your dream car?
My realistic dream car would be a MK2 Focus RS or a nice Escort RS Cosworth.
Why did you join Ford Club GB and what do you like about it?
I'm glad i've joined Ford Club GB, as its not just limited to one particular model of ford and has a great fan base, which certainly seems to be run by a great bunch.
